Michael is a journalist who writes fiction on the sly. Writing is his Frankensteinian way of creating the perfect woman, whom Michael cannot seem to find in real life. One night, while writing a love scene, he falls asleep and it becomes so vivid that he wakes up and finds her in bed with him. Now he has to contend with having this saucy, sexy wench in the 20th century. Because she is a fantasy, Anne really is the most beautiful girl in the world, and Michael has to compete with his publisher boss and an Arab billionaire for Anne’s affections, as they all introduce this 17th century creature to champagne, lobster, limos, shopping malls, bikinis, and frozen daiquiris. Unable to control the antics of this flirtatious and feisty female, Michael plunges back into his writing and starts to control her--in the past, at least--through the miracle of word processing. The climax take place at a masquerade ball, sponsored by the wicked publishing magnate Maximillian, who looks suspiciously like the evil Duke who is romancing Michael’s heroine in the novel. Michael is torn between his love of Annie in the Past, and his love of Annie in the Present, and the strength of his love just may cause the Past and the Present to merge. . . Suddenly there are pirate ships in the pool, and sharks swarming in the chlorinated water. Pirates invade the costume part and incite a free-for-all of streets brawls and sword fighting, with everybody looking like a mirror image of everybody else.
